Our visit to Aoga ale Teuila

Celebrating Samoan Language Week

Our children were very fortunate to be invited to Aoga ale Teuila to celebrate Samoan Language Week with them. There were cultural activities set up for us to participate in like learning how to scrape taro using the top lid of the coconut cream, peeling the green bananas using a stick, and also weaving.

We also played a traditional game where children had to throw their small rock and get it closer to the big rock at the end of the mat. There were also performances shared between both centres and Aoga ale Teuila also showed us the well known story of 'Sina and the Tuna.'

Our children also got to share a meal with Aoga ale Teuila which consisted of the delicious Samoan food - pork, green bananas, taro and chop suey. Our children definitely enjoyed their meals as they were asking for second and third helpings. Yuuum!

Faafetai lava to the Aoga ale Teuila Preschool for allowing us to share this special celebration with you. We definitely had a good time playing and learning about your culture.

  1. Meitaki maata Aoga ale Teuila for inviting us to share this special time with you. It is so important for us to connect with other ECE services within our community, and to expose our tamariki to pacifika culture. In doing so, we get to strengthen relationships and build strong networks in the process.
Again, we thank you for your generosity and hospitality.
