With inviting stations and tamariki eager to participate, our 2 hour morning started with an introduction, and a short movie about Matariki.
As our tamariki proceeded to paint their rocks, we had a little korero (talk) about our stones being provided to us by Papatuanuku (Maori God of the earth).
The star shaped cookie station was hilarious! Many tamariki were seen to be doing the sneaky taste tests before they placed their stars onto the baking trays.
Positive interactions, and group participation could be seen throughout the morning.
Meitaki maata (thank you) to Mr Sean and his team for asking us along to join in this Significant Maori celebration with the junior school. We can't wait for next year!
While we have never met personally, we have heard so many good stories about Mr Sean! Our tamariki love it when they can visit! And a whole morning of celebrations was such a treat... Thank you!
