PIRATES

In noticing an interest in sword play within the block area, we went on to make cardboard swords. From here, emerged pirate play...

Add in a cape and an eye patch, and these little pirates were off to find their treasure!

Meitaki Mama Tere and Rangi for showing our tamariki how capes and eye patches can be made with resources we have within our Apii.

Community Walk

Spontaneous walks within our community take place at times when the sun is shining, and our tamariki want to participate.

We were fortunate enough to be invited into our new Te Oro building by Jenny, who asked if we'd like to have a look around...
As Jenny gave us a guided tour, she explained that each room within Te Oro has been named after particular places within our community.

Our tamariki got to experience the first class sound and computer room, we had a little sit down in the creative arts room, and the dance studio was where our tamariki had the opportunity to move their bodies in many different ways in front of the large dance mirrors.
Meitaki Jenny from Te Oro! You really made us feel at home in this new space within our community (Belonging/Community/Relationships)

After our tour of Te Oro, we headed next door to see our librarian friend Mama June. Unfortunately Mama June was not on today, but that was ok, we still enjoyed our time reading, and exploring through the many books and shelves. We also brought some books back to Apii Potiki for our friends.

Mothers Day Afternoon Tea (continued)

Our committee members worked busily alongside one another, giving each other advice on how many sprinkles were needed on each piece of fairy bread.

With the assistance of Mama Tere, the committee were all dressed, and ready to welcome our mum's.

What a wonderful outcome for our apii  and our committee today. Many of our mums managed to make time in their busy day to attend this event that was planned especially for them by their tamariki.
Meitaki to everyone who participated in today's event. From the tamariki who instigated this idea through their pretend play, to all our staff and management for supporting and extending on the interests of our tamariki, and of course our awesome families/whanau, we say a great big THANK YOU!

Planning Our Mother's Day Afternoon Tea Party

The idea to have a tea party for our mum's, came from a small group of tamariki who often set up tea parties in our pretend play area.

OUR PLANNING COMMITTEE
When asked who wanted to assist with planning our tea party, this group put up their hands to get
involved.

After sharing ideas, and making group decisions, the committee put their own marks on the plan.

When asked what the next step would be, Quinn suggested that "We need the invitations".
Meitaki (thank you) Quinn for designing our invitations for the tea party.

So, our plan is up and running, and the invitations have been given out during today's home time. Stay tuned to see the outcome of our tea party.
